Minecraft Earth不是现有游戏的移植，而是Minecraft基岩版和Java版的改编。[7]该游戏建立在基岩引擎上。该版本的Minecraft具有许多独特的与Minecraft本体类似的游玩方式和交互行为。[7]
游玩Minecraft Earth需要一个Xbox Live账户。[8]
该游戏使用Azure的全新Azure Spatial Anchors和Open Maps技术来优化游戏体验。这有助于根据一定的玩家建筑位置来确定特定物体的位置。[7][9]
